Member, with passion in and on the water

SLRG

The SLRG SSS (Swiss Lifesaving Society) has set itself the goal of preventing drowning. It directs all its activities towards this goal by promoting awareness of proper behavior in, around and on the water, stimulating a sense of responsibility and supporting appropriate actions.

As a member organization of the Swiss Red Cross, the SLRG SSS works according to the principles of the Red Cross. As a member of the International Lifesaving Federation, it also makes an active contribution to drowning prevention and the promotion of lifesaving beyond national borders.

The SLRG SSS works closely with other specialized organizations at national and international level to draw on existing knowledge or actively contribute to its development.

SLRG Section Lyss

The SLRG Section Lyss was founded in 1959 on the initiative of former lifeguard Gottfried Hofer. The organization aims to promote accident prevention and life-saving in all waters, especially in standing and flowing waters, and to support sports and youth work. It offers swimming and life-saving courses, demonstrations, consultations, training and participation in competitions. The SLRG Section Lyss can also provide public services such as rescue operations and lifeguarding. The members and bodies of the organization perform their duties on a voluntary and honorary basis.

The SLRG Section Lyss is, like the umbrella organization, a non-profit humanitarian organization that complies with the principles of the Red Cross. Its main objective is the prevention of accidents and the saving of lives in various emergency situations, especially in standing and flowing waters.

Rettungsdienst Bielersee/ Sauvetage lac de Bienne

The “Rettungsdienst Bielersee/ Sauvetage lac de Bienne” has been operating the lake rescue service on Lake Biel since 1930 and also provides assistance on surrounding waters such as the Aare. The RDB maintains a weekend standby service between Easter and October with about 45 volunteer men and women. We work closely with the lake police.

My tasks

In the Lyss Section, I get to work in a wide range of areas. This includes leading lifeguarding and first aid courses, managing the IT infrastructure, communication and organizing events. I am also involved in strategic projects, such as the development and funding of a swimming course specifically designed to meet the needs of immigrant women. In this section, I serve on the board as vice president.

At the rescue service Bielersee/ Sauvetage lac de Bienne I am, as an active member of the piquetteam, on duty on the lake.

In the national association, I support the development of the WordPress theme Nautilus and advise the sections around WordPress. I also represent our section (Lyss) as a delegate in the national federation.

I am pleased to hear from you.
